What We Believe

We believe the African American church is the nucleus of Black communities—spiritually, socially, and politically. MVOC builds on this foundation to organize around health, housing, and justice.

OUR Leadership

The Miami Valley Organizing Collaborative is led by a dedicated team of visionaries who bring deep community roots, lived experience, and unwavering commitment to justice. Under the guidance of former Mayor Richard Clay Dixon, longtime advocate Mrs. Sharon Hunter, and strategist Mrs. Cynthia Moon, MVOC continues to grow as a trusted force in faith-based community organizing.

Our leadership reflects the very communities we serve—grounded in faith, driven by purpose, and united by a shared belief that lasting change begins from within. Together, we equip churches, train advocates, and lead initiatives that confront the disparities impacting Black families in the Miami Valley.

Black babies in Montgomery County die at more than 3 times the rate of other babies—regardless of their parents’ income or health behaviors.
This isn’t about individual choices. It’s about systemic racism.
